I started work in the Ministry of Justice as a Court clerk but left to study law at Otago University graduating with an LLB in 1986.
I was admitted as a Barrister and enrolled as a Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 1987 and then spent several years in practice in Christchurch before travelling overseas.
Working in London I appeared regularly in the County Courts representing a number of London Borough Councils.
Once back in New Zealand I accepted an offer to work in Taupo for a local firm as its Court advocate. After nine years I left to practice as a Barrister on my own account in 2000.
Most of my work now is a variety of:
- private criminal, employment and civil work referred to me by solicitors (both local and from other areas)
- criminal legal aid work for the Ministry of Justice as one of its approved providers
- Court appointed Youth Advocate work with young people as they go through the Youth Court process.
I have been living and practising law in Taupo for 28 years.
